Our Preschool program is based on the
belief that children are unique individuals, therefore each child grows and
develops at their own pace.
In the preschool class we encourage the
children to try their best. Through repetition and practice each child will
learn new concepts and develop their progressing abilities. The class works on
large and small motor skills, pre-math, pre-reading and pre-writing, as well as
dramatic play and the arts.
A portfolio system is used to document
each child's progress through samples of daily work, behavioral and
developmental observations, photographs and report cards.
Small Group work:
On a daily basis, throughout the week, one of the teachers will work with your
child on academics or art in a small group. This enables us to give more
individual attention to the child's learning and an opportunity to encourage
them to try their best with new activities and old skills.
Large Group work:
Blocks in the afternoon are often used for group play. The children learn to
construct, solve problems and work together as a team.
Scheduled bathroom breaks occur throughout the day (and of course are allowed as
needed). Children should be fully potty trained by the time they come to
preschool. However, we support newly trained children through encouragement and
frequent trips to the bathroom.
Morning circle is a time to talk about family, weekend activities, school
issues, learning themes, calendar, weather observations, songs and stories. This
is a valuable time for learning to be with a group, learning to listen and
participate in discussions. Along with morning circle time, there are many story
circle times throughout the day - in quiet gatherings after play, before lunch
